Hey guys! I've been neglecting my blog for a few months but now I am back and will be posting way more regularly! Today on the blog I will be sharing with you a few of my favourite Springtime products, some new and some old classics and also showing you some quick and easy spring-make-up/ hair tutorials!
Spring for me is all about freshness. Make-up should be dewy, pink and rosy, almost a no make-up kind of look using soft shades of pink, lilac, cream and silver. This kind of look can be worn by anyone, and looks so natural and reflects your inner beauty. Think pretty pastels combined with a luminous glow! check out my Pinterest board HERE.
Here's a few of my favourite products to help you achieve this springtime glow:
SKIN- Right now I am loving my skin care, I have recently really struggled with my skin- I used to get breakouts and areas of dry skin. Spring weather can be what causes a lot of the dry skin issues, the constant heat changes going from central heating to the cold fresh air can really dry your skin out. My saviour has been Guerlain's super aqua serum and day cream. The super aqua complex that is inside these products means that not only are they super hydrating for the skin but also this technology actually purifies the water inside skin cells. This means that the serum and cream protect your skin from pollution and harsh weather conditions, a perfect skin saviour for spring! Being a Guerlain product means it's pricey, but believe me- ITS WORTH IT!! If it is a little out of your price range, a great alternative is the Body Shop's Aloe Soothing Day cream.
BASE- At the moment I am really into no-makeup looks, skin that still looks flawless but you can still see the skins natural glow. A few foundations I am in LOVE with right now are Guerlain's super aqua BB cream and Guerlain's Baby glow. These have such gorgeous textures, that glide on to the skin and feel weightless. The texture is dewy with out feeling sticky. The main difference between the two is that the BB is slightly thicker, meaning better coverage and has hydrating qualities great for dry skin! The Babyglow is a sheer coverage but smells amazing and feels silky smooth on the skin. Their only downfall is that they are pretty pricey, however for a budget option Seventeen's BB cream is just as amazing and only £6.99!
COMPLEXION- So it's spring so think pastels- lilac and pink blush, with a real dewy finish to the skin. Cream blushers are wonderful for getting that Au natural look, a fave of mine is Illamasqua's cream blusher in colour 'Laid' its a hot pink, and a little goes a long way! Also for more of a lilac hue Mac's cream blush in 'brit wit' is so pretty for fair skin/blondes! For a budget option Loreal's Dream Touch Blush is also amazing and all of them have wicked staying power, although to be sure that they do stay all day I would always use a loose translucent powder dusted lightly over to secure in place! To get that ultra dewy look you can use either a powder illuminator or a cream one. The general rule when using cream and powder products is that you dont mix and match so if you're using cream products stick to a cream illuminator and vice/versa. Two products I cannot live without are the nars Illuminator in 413 and MUA cosmetics shimmer kisses. I get so many compliments when wearing a dusting of this on my cheekbones... It makes the skin look INCREDIBLE and at only £3 its a must buy!
EYES- Again keeping it natural think pastels combined with soft neutrals. A lot of companies are creating their own versions of the famous 'naked' palettes. Loreal have recently introduced their 'La Palette Nude' as have Barry M's 'Natural Glow pallete'. Which is great for not only people looking on a budget but also amazing for getting a range of different colours that aren't the same as the standard naked palette. Using these with pastel colours works amazing, finish the eyes with a small flick of eye liner (optional) and a few coats of mascara and you really get that soft spring look without being too OTT. My favourite mascara at the moment is Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara, It is honestly the best mascara for lengthening and making your eyelashes appear longer, it's MAGIC!
LIPS- Finally keeping to the spring time theme, depending on what blusher you go for choose a similar hue for your lips, so if you went lilac choose a lip crayon like Seventeen's in 'playful' a soft pink with Lilac undertones. Being a crayon is a bit more sheer in finish so works great for our no-makeup look. If you go for a pink blush then a favourite colour of mine right now is Mac's lipstick in 'syrup' is a great natural pink colour.
FINISH- To finish, if my skin is feeling really dry I would usually give it a quick spritz of a hydrating spray. A few great ones include DIOR Diorskin Airflash CC Primer, Nyx setting spray in dewy finish and budget option- Simple Kind To Skin Moisture Boost Hydro Mist Spray All really refreshing to use after your make-up which also add to the dewy appearance that we want to achieve for spring!
